Description of key information

The product C.I. Pigment Green 50 (without and including its impurity Ni titanate) is with high probability acutely not harmful to fish.

Additional information

The results of a semi-static exposure test on Oryzias latipes as accomplished by MOE (2001) and a static exposure test on Leuciscus idus conducted by BASF AG (1988) indicate that C.I. Pigment Yellow 53 and thus, P.I Pigment Green 50 itself has no toxic effects in the range of its water solubility.

Furthermore, the acute reference values of 120 and 68 µg Ni/L for pH 6.0 and 8.0 are well above of the Ni concentration after two different loading rats of P.I Pigment Green 50 (including the impurity Ni titanate): The concentrations were 3 and 40 µg Ni/L at pH 5.5 and < 1 and 17 µg Ni/L at pH 8.5 at loadings of 1 and 100 mg P.I Pigment Green 50/L, respectively.

Therefore, with a high probability the impurity Ni titanate is acutely not harmful to aquatic organisms.
