Administrative data
First-aid measures
If inhaled: move affected person to fresh air. In case of respiratory arrest, use artificial respiration. Consult a physician.
After skin contact: Remove contaminated clothing and shoes immediately. Wash with soap and plenty of water. Consult a physician
After eye contact: Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes and seek medical advice.
After swallowing: DO NOT induce vomiting. Never instill anything through the mouth of an unconscious person. Mouth with

Most important acute or delayed symptoms and effects:
Extremely damaging effect on the tissue of mucous membranes and upper respiratory tract, as well as on eyes cramps, inflammation and oedema of the larynx, cramps, inflammation and oedema of the Bronchia, pneumonitis, pulmonary edema, Ardor, cough, stenosis respiration, laryngitis (laryngitis), Respiratory distress, headache, nausea, vomiting.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable extinguishing media: For small or developing fires, use foam, dry powder or carbon dioxide. For large fire, use a water spray jet. Cool affected containers with water.
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: Carbon oxides, nitrogen oxides (NOx)
Instructions for fire fighting: In case of fire, wear self-contained breathing apparatus if necessary.

Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protective equipment and procedures measures to be used in emergency case: Use personal protective equipment. Do not inhale vapours/mist/gas. Provide appropriate ventilation. Remove all ignition sources. Bring persons to safety. Protect yourself from accumulating vapours which may form explosive concentrations. Vapours may accumulate in low-lying areas.
Personal protective Equipments:
- Eye/face protection: Tight-fitting safety goggles. Face protection (minimum 20 cm). Use for Eye protection only equipment that meets regulatory standards, such as NIOSH (US) or EN 166 (EU), has been tested and approved.
- Skin protection: Work with gloves. Gloves must be inspected before use. Use a suitable extraction method (without touching the outer surface of the glove). Avoid skin contact with this product. Disposal of the contaminated gloves after use within the framework of legal regulations and good laboratory practice. Washing and drying the hands. The protective gloves to be used must comply with the specifications of the EC Directive
89/686/EEC and the resulting EN 374 standard.
- Body protection: Complete chemical protective suit, flame retardant antistatic protective clothing. The type of protective equipment must be worn depending on the concentration and quantity of the hazardous substance.
- Respiratory protection: If air-purifying respiratory protection is required after the hazard assessment, a full face mask with multi-purpose combination filter (US) or with filter type ABEK (EN 14387) has to be used additionally to the technical measures. If the breathing apparatus is the only protective measure, a self-contained breathing apparatus with a full face mask must be used. Respiratory protective devices and components must be used in accordance with appropriate national standards such as NIOHS (US) or CEN (EU), must be tested and approved.
Environmental protection measures: Prevent further leakage or spillage if this is possible without danger. Do not enter the
sewerage system.
Methods and materials for retention and cleaning: Pick up the spilled material with a spark-safe vacuum cleaner or damp sweep together and place in containers for disposal in accordance with local legal requirements.
Handling and storage
Protective measures for safe handling: Avoid inhalation of vapours or mist. Keep away from sources of ignition - Do not smoke. Take measures against electrostatic charging.
Conditions for safe storage takingincompatibilities into account:
Store in a cool place. Keep container tightly closed in a dry, well-ventilated place. Close opened containers carefully and store upright to prevent any leakage. Store under inert gas. Sensitive to carbon dioxide.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Normal operation
Workers use PPE as a good practice to minimise possible exposures from minor accidental leaks during loading and unloading the reaction vessel, even though rigorous containment is ensured through technical means. Procedures are in place for disposal or cleaning of contaminated PPE.
Accident and incidents
A fully trained Emergency Response Team (ERT) is in place to react in case of accidents and incidents resulting in unexpected releases of the intermediate in order to minimize risks of exposures to humans and the environment. Components of the ERT are selected among senior site operators and technicians and are periodically trained and certified to respond to emergencies. Trainings and certifications of members ERT are subject to periodical revisions and approval by Local Fire Department. PPE as specified in emergency procedures and training are required in case of accidents and incidents. Procedures are in place for disposal or cleaning of contaminated PPE, as appropriate.
Maintenance and cleaning
Workers use additional PPE for cleaning the reaction vessel. A short exposure may occur during a maintenance operation, involving opening of a section of the pipeline connecting the reactor with loading station due to accidental presence of a residue of diluted intermediate that may lead to skin exposure. As a result, workers are given a specific work instruction on how to open this section, and are required to use high-efficiency PPE for skin and respiratory protection, as a precautionary and protective measure during all maintenance work, where there is a potential for exposure. PPE type is specified in the permit-to-work documents. Procedures are in place for disposal or cleaning of contaminated PPE, as appropriate.
