The principal study was conducted according to OECD Guideline 301F. There were limited concentrations of intermediate degradation products based on the comparison of measured oxygen consumptions and theoretical oxygen demands in the study. In the study it was shown that the carbon and hydrogen in the test substance were converted to carbon dioxide and water within 28 days.

There is sufficient evidence from various test to assure that hexylcinnamaldehyde is readily biodegradable with around 97% degradation of the test substance.
