First-aid measures

Inhalation: Remove from exposure, lie down. Move to fresh air. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. Obtain medical attention.
Eye contact: Rinse immediately with plenty of water, also under the eyelids, for at least 15 minutes. If eye irritation persists, consult a specialist.
Skin contact: Wash off immediately with soap and plenty of water removing all contaminated clothes and shoes. If skin irritation persists, call a physician.
Ingestion: Drink plenty of water. Do not induce vomiting. Treat symptomatically. If swallowed, seek medical advice immediately and show this container or label.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: Carbon dioxide (CO2), water spray, dry chemical, alcohol-resistant foam.
Extinguishing media which must not be used for safety reasons: High volume water jet.
Specific methods: Combustible material. Dust may form explosive mixture in air. Cool containers/tanks with water spray. Keep product and empty container away from heat and sources of ignition. Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system. Prevent product from entering drains.
Special protective equipment for fire-fighters: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions: Avoid contact with skin, eyes and clothing. Evacuate personnel to safe areas. Keep people away from and upwind of spill/leak.
Environmental precautions: Remove immediately adhering matter. Prevent product from entering drains. Do not flush into surface water or sanitary sewer system.
Methods for cleaning up: Absorb spill with inert material (e.g. dry sand or earth), then place in a chemical waste container. Do not flush with water.

Handling and storage

Handling:
Technical measures/precautions: In accordance with local and national regulations. Use only in area with appropriate exhaust ventilation. Use spark-proof tools and explosion-proof equipment. Avoid dust formation.
Safe handling advice: Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Wear personal protective equipment. Do not breathe vapours/dust. Use only in an area equipped with a safety shower.
Engineering measures: Local exhaust.
Storage:
Technical measures/precautions: In accordance with local and national regulations. Keep in a dry, cool place. Keep container tightly closed. Keep away from food and drink.
Incompatible products: Do not store near acids.
Specific uses: Dispose of as special waste in compliance with local and national regulations.
Suitable container materials for the direct contact are cardboard boxes, paper bags and flexible big bags or IBC’s.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Environmental exposure controls: Prevent product from entering drains. Do not contaminate surface water. Avoid subsoil penetration.
Engineering measures: Local exhaust.
Personal protection equipment:
Eye protection: Tightly-fitting safety goggles. Face-shield.
Hand protection: Nitrile gloves, thickness 13 mils (0.33 mm). For non-corrosive solids like thiram, a breakthrough time of 480 minutes is assumed for such gloves. Experimental breakthrough times according to EN375 can only be determined for liquid chemicals. Choose body protection according to the amount and concentration of the dangerous substance at the work place.
Respiratory protection: In case of insufficient ventilation, wear suitable respiratory equipment. Suitable mask with particle filter P3 (European Norm 143). Self-contained breathing apparatus. (In case of higher concentrations). In accordance with local and national regulations.
Skin and body protection: Wear suitable protective equipment. Choose body protection according to the amount and concentration of the dangerous substance at the work place.

Stability and reactivity

Conditions to avoid: Dust formation, humid air and water, heat
Materials to avoid: Decomposes by reaction with strong acids
Hazardous decomposition products: Burning produces irritant fumes. Heating or fire can release toxic gases like carbon oxides, nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulphur oxides.

Disposal considerations

Waste from residues/unused products: Dispose of in accordance with local regulations. Waste codes should be assigned by the user based on the application for which the product was used. Classified as hazardous waste according to national equivalent of EC Directive 91/689; disposal of toxic and hazardous waste.
Contaminated packaging: Empty containers should be taken for local recycling, recovery or waste disposal.
