Administrative data

First-aid measures

Inhalation:

Move the person away from the contaminated area into fresh air. Consult a doctor in the event of any complaints.

Skin contact:

Remove all contaminated clothing and footwear. Wash off with water. Use appropriate protective equipment when treating a contaminated person. Consult a doctor in the event of any complaints.

Eye contact:

Rinse with running water whilst keeping the eyes wide open (at least 15 minutes). After initial flushing, remove any contact lenses and continue flushing. If irritation persists, consult a doctor. Show this sheet to the doctor.

Ingestion:

NEVER attempt to induce vomiting. Wash out mouth with water. Do not give anything to drink. Consult a doctor in the event of any complaints.

Protection of first-aiders:

Avoid exposure. If a great quantity of dust is formed: 1. respiratory protection with a particle filter, 2. appropriate gloves, 3. goggles, and 4. protective clothing.

Further information: place contaminated clothing in a sealed bag for disposal.

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable extinguishing media: preferable use: water or foam. All types of extinguishing agents are permitted.

Not suitable extinguishing media: None. If there is a fire close by, use suitable extinguishing agents.

Specific hazards: Not combustible. Does not present any particular risk in the event of a fire.

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:

Prevent formation of clouds of dust. Do NOT intervene without a dust mask.

Personal protective equipment: 1. Safety spectacles, goggles, 2. Suitable protective clothing, 3. Appropriate gloves, 4. Respiratory protection device with a particle filter.

Environmental precautions.

This product does not present any particular risk for the environment. Prevent dispersion.

Methods for cleaning up:

- Recovery: Collect the product and place it in a spare container, suitably labelled.

- Cleaning/Decontamination: Wash contaminated area with large amounts of water.

Technical measures: Does not necessitate any specific/particular technical measures, other than those concerning the handling of powders.

Measures: Avoid the formation of spread of dust in the atmosphere.

Safe handling advice: Only use in well-ventilated areas.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Engineering measures: Ensure good ventilation of the work station.

Occupational exposure limits: TWA (zirconium dioxide): 5 mg/m3; STEL (zirconium dioxide): 10 mg/m3

Personal protective equipment:

- Respiratory protection: If dust is generated: respiratory protective device with a particle filter (type 1)

- Hand protection: Appropriate gloves. Protective gloves must be chosen according to the function of the work station: other chemicals which may be handled, physical protection necessary (resistance to cutting, puncture, heat), dexterity required. Use suitable chemical-resistant protective gloves (compliant with Standard EN 374-1)

- Eye protection: Safety spectacles

- Skin and body protection: protective clothing.

Stability and reactivity

Stability: stable under normal conditions of use.

Conditions to avoid: No dangerous reactions known under normal conditions of use. Keep away from moisture and heat. Avoid generation of dust.

Disposal considerations

Residues from product:

Destruction/Disposal: Dispose of materials or solid residues at a licensed site. Keep waste separate. Because of possible pollution, remove as industrial waste or hazardous waste.

Contaminated packaging:

Decontamination/cleaning: clean with water.

Destruction/disposal: Entrust the thoroughly decontaminated packaging to a licensed waste-contractor.

Methods of disposal: disposal according to the local legislation.
