In a static test system a 96h-LC50 of > 1000 mg/L was determined on
rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) related to nominal concentration.
This value lies far above the water solubility and the measured
concentrations. Since the test solution was not filtered and undissolved
substance was observed in all test vessels the value is considered as
reliable and reflects a worst case situation. Despite it can not be
excluded that the intake by ingestion of the substance took place, no
effects were observed. The test was conducted according to the OECD
Guideline 203 (Fish, Acute Toxicity Test).
The chronic toxicity of the substance to Daphnia magna was investigated
in a semi-static test. The study was conducted in accordance with
Council Regulation (EC) No 440/2008, Method C.20 'Daphnia magna
Reproduction Test'', which equals in all relevant parts to the OECD Test
guideline 211 (Daphnia magna Reproduction Test). After 21 days of
exposure a NOEC(Reproduction) of >=1 mg/L (nominal) was determined. No
toxic effects against daphnia were observed at a limit test
concentration of nominally 1 mg/L. The measured concentration was <
0.0334 mg/L, which reflects the maximum water solubility under exposure
As no effects were observed in this long-term test at the limit of the
water solubility a short-term test on daphnia could be waived.
According to OECD guideline 201 ' Alga, Growth Inhibition Test' the
acute toxicity of the substance to alga (Desmodesmus subspicatus) was
tested. No toxic effects against algae were observed at a limit test
concentration of 100 mg/L (nominal), corresponding to a measured
concentration of < 0.0334 mg/L, which reflects the maximum water
solubility under exposure conditions. The 72h-NOEC was reported as >=
100mg/L, and the 72h-EC50 was given as > 100 mg/L.
To assess the toxicity of the substance to microorganisms a study was
conducted according to the OECD Guideline 209. The substance showed no
respiration inhibition of activated sludge at the highest concentration
of 1000 mg/L. The 3h-EC10 and the 3h-EC50 are higher than 1000 mg/L. The
effect values relate to nominal concentration, since no analytical
monitoring was performed.
