Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets

Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

First-aid measures

Inhalation: Fresh air; if indicated, use artificial respiration (mouth to mouth or respirator) and consult physician.

Dermal contact: Rinse skin with plenty of water. Take of contaminated cloth and clean them with polyethlenglycol 400.

Eye contact: Rinse eye with pleanty of water for at least 10 minutes. Consult physician.

Swallowing: Fresh air; give ethoanl and lemon juice (e.g. a glas of 40% alcoholic drink); consult physician (alert to methanol); in case of apnoea, give artificial respiration (mouth to mouth or respirator)

If gastro-intestinal symptoms develop, consult medical personnel. (Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person).

Fire-fighting measures

Suitable exstinguishing agents: water, carbon dioxide, powder BC + ABC, fire extinguishing foam, halon (may not be permissible in some countries)

Specific danger: flammable, fumes heavier than air, in contact with air explosive mixtures might be formed.

In contact with light metals, hydrogen gas may be formed (Danger of Explosion)

Water stream may splash the burning liquid and spread fire.

Protective equipment: Gloves

Accidental release measures

Remove sources of ignition, contain spill to smallest area possible. Stop leak if possible.

Pick up small spills with absorbent materials and dispose of properly to avoid spontaneous combustion (see unusual fire and explosion hazards above).

Recover large spills for salvage or disposal. Wash hard surfaces with safety solvent or detergent to remove remaining oil film. Greasy nature will result in a slippery surface.

Handling and storage

Handling:

Use closed containers.

Flammable, fumes heavier than air, in contact with air explosive mixtures might be formed. In contact with light metals, hydrogen gas may be formed (Danger of Explosion)

Storage:

Do not use Aluminium-, Zinc- or Tin-container.

Keep containers and storage tightly closed in a cool, ventilated place. Keep ans store away from ignition sources, combustible material and acids.

Access for trained personnel only.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Personal Protection:

Take contaminated cloth off immediately. Wash hands after work.

In case of fumes/aerosoles, wear respiratory protection.

Use gloves appropriate for the duration of handling.

Wear eye protection.

Wear appropriate protective cloth.

Stability and reactivity

Avoid conditions beyond the stability range from -10°C to 50°C.

Avoid the following substances: acidic halogenids, alkaline (earth) metals, oxidising agents, hydrids, halogens, diethyl zinc

Dangerous (thermal) decomposition products: formaldehyde, methanol

Disposal considerations

Dispose off using appropriate container.

Dispose off according to local, regional and/or national/inetrnational requirements.
