Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

hydrolysis

study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is readily biodegradable

Description of key information

According to column 2 of REACH Annex VIII the study does not need to be conducted if the substance is readily biodegradable. The hydrolysis test is waved because Veramoss is readily biodegradable. The ester is attached to an electrophilic aromatic ring wiht OH- groups and therefore hydrolysis is likely. In absence of hydrolysis data (because the substance is readily biodegradable) a conservative half-life for hydrolysis is selected: > 1 year.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Half-life for hydrolysis:
1 yr
