Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
calculation (if not (Q)SAR)
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
accepted calculation method
Justification for type of information:
Not possible to assess in view of supply in a water-based mixture and it was not possible to remove the water
The substance is miscible in water and is a UVCB. The clarity of solutions in water suggest that there is no significant component with a high partition coefficient
Qualifier:
no guideline followed
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The partition coefficient (Pow) of the main test item components were predicted using the computer-based prediction software, KOWWIN, v1.68 (September 2010), © 2000. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
calculation method (fragments)
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Type:
log Pow
Partition coefficient:
< -2.53
Temp.:
20 °C
pH:
ca. 11
Details on results:
The headline result cited above is from one calculation using a higher molcular weight ffraction.
Lower weight fractions were also assessed abd had evenlower Log Kow
The substance is miscible in water.
Conclusions:
Estimated Log Kow < -1.
Using KOWWIN v1.68, the log10 partition coefficients (log10 Pow) of the main components of the test item were predicted to be -2.53 (based on the precursor ‘monomer’) and -3.35 (based on the precursor ‘dimer’). However, models not completely appropriate in view of UVCB status

Not possible to test in view of supply in a water-based mixture and it was not possible to remove the water
The substance is miscible in water. The clarity of solutions in water suggest that there is no significant component with a high partition coefficient

Description of key information

Estimated Log Kow < -1.

Using KOWWIN v1.68, the log10 partition coefficients (log10 Pow) of the main components of the test item were predicted to be -2.53 (based on the precursor ‘monomer’) and -3.35 (based on the precursor ‘dimer’). However, models not completely appropriate in view of UVCB status

Not possible to test in view of supply in a water-based mixture and it was not possible to remove the water

The substance is miscible in water.  The clarity of solutions in water suggest that there is no significant component with a high partition coefficient

Key value for chemical safety assessment
