Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Ethoxy(trimethyl)silane (CAS 1825-62-3) degrades rapidly in water through hydrolysis to trimethylsilanol and ethanol (DT50 = 2.2 min at 25 °C and pH 7). The silanol hydrolysis product and the alcohol hydrolysis produc show a rather low potential for transfer from the water surface into the atmosphere (H = 2.0 Pa * m^3/mol at 12 °C and 4.2 Pa * m^3/mol at 25 °C for trimethylsilanol; 2.52 * 10^-5 at 15 °C for ethanol), and both bear a low adsorption potential (log Koc = 1.64 trimethylsilanol, Log Koc = 0 ethanol). While the silanol hydrolysis product is not expected to biodegrade, the acohol hydrolysis product is readily biodegradable. Therefore, if the parent compound is released to the environment, the substance is expected to hydrolyse rapidly and its silanol hydrolysis product is expected to be found mainly in the aquatic compartment.
