Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
Log Koc = -0.12 This corresponds to a Koc value of 0.76 L/kg.
The experimentally determined Koc of 0.76 L/kg is out of the advised range of Koc values of 1-1E+06 L/kg in the calculation model underlying Chesar (EUSES). Therefore, the key value for chemical safety assessment has been set at the minimum advised value of 1 L/kg. The effect of this approach on the environmental exposure assessment is negligible (slightly worst case).
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Koc at 20 °C:
- 1
Additional information
The adsorption/desorption potential of sodium dimethyldithiocarbamate (CAS No. 128-04-1) to solid particles was investigated in several studies. The key study (Feldhues, 2008) was conducted according to OECD Guideline No. 121, Estimation of the Adsorption Coefficient (Koc) on Soil and on Sewage Sludge using High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) (2001), under GLP conditions. At pH 6 and a column temperature of 40°C, a log Koc value of -0.12 (mean value of three replicates) was determined. Woolley and Mullee (2002) calculated the log Koc for this substance using Quantitative Structure Activity Relationships (QSAR’s) according to the Technical Guidance Document on Risk Assessment in support of Commission Directive 93/67/EEC (European Communities, 2003). This value was in the same order of magnitude as the one from the key study (< -0.166). An additional test showed that the test substance, even at high concentrations, was rapidly degraded in the soil and therefore a complete adsorption/desorption test could not be performed using the Batch Equilibrium Method.
