Description of key information

Based on structural analogues (Fisk and Langner, 1995), the relative density for the test substance ranges between 1.24 and 1.32.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The test substance is covered by the category approach of methylenediphenyl diisocyanates (MDI). Hence, data of the category substances can be used to cover this endpoint. No relative density data exists for MDI mixed isomers. However, density data exists for 4,4'-MDI and oMDI. The Fisk and Langner study (1995) reports density data for both substances according to EU Method A.3. The relative density for 4,4'-MDI and oMDI is 1.32 (air comparison pycnometer (for solids)) and 1.24 (oscillating densitimeter), respectively.
