Description of key information

The short-term toxicity of the test substance was determined in daphnia. The EC50 was > 10000 mg/L. For further details see key data in endpoint record 6.1.3.002.

Additional information

The data from Hermens et al. 1984 (6.1.3.003) was not chosen as key data even if the obtained IC50 values were lower than 10000 mg/L (7325 mg/L calculated, 7670 mg/L experimentally determined). The reason for not choosing this data as key data was that the daphnia used by Hermens et al. 1984 were older than those animals used in the key study (<2 days (Hermens et al.) compared to young animals hatched during the night (key study)). Additionally the key study was performed in accordance to an official testing method (immobilization test according to DIN 38412 part 11) whereas no information on an official testing guidline is given in the publication from Hermens et al. (1984).
