Description of key information

Thurén and Woin, 1991 reported a 25-day G. pulex overall locomotor activity in long term test in a flow -through system. Exposure to 500 microg of DBP/L led to a decrease in total activity (p< 0.083) which persisted during the post-exposure period (p<0.083).Exposure to 100 microg/L only resulted in a non-significant decrease in activity (p<0.248) with a retum to preexposure levels after withdrawal of the phthalate.
25d NOEC=0.1mg/L.

Additional information

The IPCS document on DBP (IPCS/WHO, 1997) and EU Risk Assessment Report for DBP, 2004 (EUR 19840 EN) contains some other long-term toxicity studies with aquatic invertebrates. The effect concentrations in these tests were all larger than 100 μg/l.
