1) WoE: A short term fish test (K4) (48h) was performed with Orange killifish (Oryzias latipes) according to the Japanese Industrial standard (JIS K 0102-1993-71 & GLP); LC50 (48h) = 17.2 mg/L 2) WoE: A short-term fish test (K2) (7d) was performed with Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss), however not according to any specific guideline. 3) WoE: A prolonged fish toxicity test (14 days) (OECD 204 & GLP) (K1) with Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) provided valuable information on the acute toxicity; EC50 (4d, mortality) = 0.48 mg/L; NOEC (4d) = 0.14 mg/L (WoE) 4) WoE: A prolonged fish toxicity test (14 days) (OECD 204 & GLP) (K1) with Common Carp (Cyprinus carpio) provided valuable information on the acute toxicity; EC50 (4d, mortality) > 0.67 mg/L; NOEC (4d) = 0.28 mg/L (WoE)
are two test reports available describing acute toxicity to fish
(Tadokoro, 1998; Dionne, 1997). Both studies were performed as
range-finder tests for long-term fish toxicity studies. Consequently,
concentrations were not analytically confirmed for all test conditions
and therefore results display a certain level of uncertainty. Besides
the actual acute test reports, the prolonged fish tests (OECD 204)
performed on Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) (Dionne, 1997)
and common carp (Cyprinus carpio) (Dionne, 1995) also provided
very useful information on the short term toxicity of 1,4-benzenediamine,
N,N'-mixed Ph and tolyl derivs. since 96h-LC50 values are 0.48 and >
0.67 mg/L, while NOECs (96h) are 0.14 and 0.28 mg/L for trout and carp,
respectively. The concentrations used in these tests were analytically
verified and since both tests were performed according to the OECD and
GLP guidelines, the test results gathered in these tests were used for
further risk assessment and classification purposes.
