The first study was reviwed from authoritative database (2018) in this study the Biodegradation experiment was carried out of test chemical by taking activated sludge as inoculums at 30 mg/L concentration for 28 days. Biodegradation was analyzed by using two parameters namely BOD and GC. The initial concentration of test chemical was 100 mg/L. After 28 days of incubation Percent biodegradation of test chemical was observed to be 90 % by BOD parameter, 99% by TOC parameter and 100 % by GC parameters in 28 days. Therefore it is concluded that test chemical is readily biodegradable.
In another study an experiment was performed to determine biodegradation of test chemical.Activated sludge at concentration 30 mg/L was used as inoculums and it is prepared from soil of river bank, sludge of a municipal treatment plant and sludge of an industrial sewage plant. Incubation was performed for 28 days at 20oC. The oxygen consumption was determined daily with a volumetric respirometer. After IncubationPercent degradation of test chemical was determined to 75 % by considering ThOD as parameter and using Activated sludge as inoculums in 28 days. On the basis of percent degradation value it can be concluded that test chemical is readily biodegradable.
By considering results of both the studies mentioned above it can be concluded that test chemical for Mentha citrata, ext. (CAS no. 85085-49-0) is redaily biodegradable.
