Description of key information
Appearance:
Based on available data from obtained report, the appearance of 2 -[[4 -[ethyl(2 -hydroxyethyl)amino]phenyl]azo]-6 -methoxy-3 -methylbenzothiazolium acetate was observed to be blue color liquid organic compound.
Melting point:
The Freezing point determination of 2 -[[4 -[ethyl(2 -hydroxyethyl)amino]phenyl]azo]-6 -methoxy-3 -methylbenzothiazolium acetate(CAS No. 84051-87-6) was done using crushed ice and salt. The determination was done on the basis of cooling curve (time vs temperature) obtained when the test item was placed in the cooling bath. The freezing point was determine to be less than -10.4°C at 977.5 hPa.
Boiling Point:
The boiling point determination of Test item 2-[[4-[ethyl(2-hydroxyethyl)amino]phenyl]azo]-6- methoxy-3 -methylbenzothiazolium acetate (CAS No. 84051 -87 -6 ) was done as per the test guideline OECD 103. The method followed was according to Siwoloboff. The mean boiling point was determine to be 108.3°C at 977.4 hPa.
Density:
The density of Test item 2-[[4-[ethyl(2 -hydroxyethyl)amino]phenyl]azo]-6-methoxy-3-methylbenzothiazolium acetate (CAS No. 84051-87-6 ) was determined following OECD guideline 109 and according to the Indian standard method for determination of density of liquids [IS 4730:1994 (Reaffirmed 2010)] . The mean density of the test item was determine to be 1.2335 g/cm³ at 20 °C and 978.0 hPa.
.
Particle size distribution:
In accordance with column 2 of Annex VII of the REAcH regulation this end point was considered for waiver since the given chemical 2-[[4-[ethyl(2-hydroxyethyl)amino]phenyl]azo]-6-methoxy-3-methylbenzothiazolium acetate is a liquid and is expected to be marketed or used in a non solid or granular form.
Vapour pressure:
The estimated vapour pressure of the substance 2-[[4-[ethyl(2-hydroxyethyl)amino]phenyl]azo]-6-methoxy-3-methylbenzothiazolium acetate at 25 deg C was 9.54E-13 Pa ( 7.15E-15 mm Hg).
Partition coefficient:
The partition Coefficient n-octanol/water of test chemical 2-[[4-[ethyl(2-hydroxyethyl)amino]phenyl]azo]-6-methoxy-3-methylbenzothiazolium acetate (CAS No. 84051-87-6) was determined by the Reverse Phase High Performance Liquid Chromatographic method according to OECD Guideline No. 117 for testing of Chemicals. A test item solution was prepared by accurately pipetting 4 microlitre of test item and diluted with Acetonitrile up to 10 ml. Thus, the test solution concentration was 492 mg/l(calculated according to density). The pH of test substance was 5.7. The reference substances were chosen according to functional similarity with the test substance and calibration graph was prepared. The reference substances were 4-Acetylpyridine, Benzene, Biphenyl, Cinnamyl alcohol, 4-Methylbenzyl alcohol, Benzyl alcohol, Toluene, Ethylbenzene, Naphthalene, Allyl phenyl ether, n-Butylbenzene, having Pow value ranging from 0.5 to 4.6. The Log Pow value of the test chemical 2-[[4-[ethyl(2-hydroxyethyl)amino]phenyl]azo]-6-methoxy-3-methylbenzothiazolium acetate was determined to be 1.297 ± 0.007 dimensionless at 25°C. On the basis of this value, test chemical 2-[[4-[ethyl(2-hydroxyethyl)amino]phenyl]azo]-6-methoxy-3-methylbenzothiazolium acetate can be considered to be hydrophilic in nature.
Water solubility:
The water solubility for the test item 2-[[4-[ethyl(2-hydroxyethyl)amino]phenyl]azo]-6-methoxy-3-methylbenzothiazolium acetate was found to be 255700 mg/L at 25°C.
Based on experimental value the given chemical is considered to be very soluble in water.
Surface tension:
Based on the prediction done by ACD labs Software (v12.1.0.50375), the surface tension for chemical 2-[[4-[ethyl(2-hydroxyethyl)amino]phenyl]azo]-6-methoxy-3-methylbenzothiazolium acetate was predicted to be 46.7 mN/m.
Flash point:
The flash point determination of Test item 2 -[[4 -[ethyl(2 -hydroxyethyl)amino]phenyl]azo]-6 -methoxy-3 - methylbenzothiazolium acetate (CAS No. 84051 -87 -6 )was done. The method was closed cup method using Pensky-Martens Flash Point Apparatus. The mean flash point of the test item was determine to be 125.6°C at 977.1 hPa.
Auto flammability:
2-[[4-[ethyl(2-hydroxyethyl)amino]phenyl]azo]-6-methoxy-3-methylbenzothiazolium acetate did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C pressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that 2-[[4-[ethyl(2-hydroxyethyl)amino]phenyl]azo]-6-methoxy-3-methylbenzothiazolium acetate is not auto-flammable.
Flammability:
2-[[4-[ethyl(2-hydroxyethyl)amino]phenyl]azo]-6-methoxy-3-methylbenzothiazolium acetate does not indicate any ignition when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of approximately 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that 2-[[4-[ethyl(2-hydroxyethyl)amino]phenyl]azo]-6-methoxy-3-methylbenzothiazolium acetate is not flammable at high temperature. However since such high temperatures are not found under normal circumstances of transportation and use, thus 2-[[4-[ethyl(2-hydroxyethyl)amino]phenyl]azo]-6-methoxy-3-methylbenzothiazolium acetate was considered non-flammable.
Explosiveness:
The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties.
Oxidizing properties:
The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with oxidizing properties and hence the classification procedure does not need to be applied.
