- The final value given above (480 g/L) was averaged from 468, 490, and 482 g/L, respectively, and was obtained after approximately 60 min of equilibration. Later on, the initially dissolved test item then suffered from oxidation within a few hours, forming a precipitate with time in varying amounts.

In contrast to the above described common procedure, in the present case the intended equilibration times could not be met due to an unexpected precipitation that occurred subsequently to initial complete dissolution. Obviously, the completely dissolved test item, later on suffered from oxidation. In this way, a product of an oxidation, not the test item itself, led to this precipitation.
