Description of key information

The structure analogue Isodecyl methacrylate has a experimental determined water solubility of 199 µg/L at 20°C, pH8, Lange 2009,
OECD 105 (column elution method), GLP.
A very low water solubility of n-Decyl methacrylate was calculated to be 0.4359 mg/L at 25°C (calculation method for n-DMA using EpiWin version 4.00 (Evonik Oil Additives S.A.S., 2012). Even a very low solubility of Isodecyl methacrylate was calculated (0.378 mg/L at 25 °C) with the valid calculation method for IDMA using EpiWin version 4.00 (Evonik Röhm GmbH, 2011).

Additional information

The water solubility of n-Decyl methacrylate was calculated to be 0.4359 mg/L at 25°C (calculation method for n-DMA using EpiWin version 4.00 (Evonik Oil Additives S.A.S., 2012). This value is supported by the measured and calculated results of the structure analogous substance Isodecyl methacrylate. The key study (Lange, 2009) reports a water solubility value for Isodecyl methacrylate of 199 µg/L at 20°C. Even a very low solubility of Isodecyl methacrylate was calculated (0.378 mg/L at 25 °C) with the valid calculation method for IDMA using EpiWin version 4.00 (Evonik Röhm GmbH, 2011). Since the calculated values for n-Decyl methacrylate and Isodecyl methacrylate are of the same order of magnitude it is assumed that the experimental values for the water solubility are as well of the same order of magnitude. Therefore the experimental value of the structure analog substance Isodecyl methacrylate was choosen as key study for n-Decyl methacrylate.
