Results

Preliminary test

An approximate value of the ignition temperature of the test item was first determined in a preliminary test. Results are given in the table below. An “ignition” is indicated by + and “no ignition” by -. Five drops we added into the Erlenmeyer flask at each temperature.

According to observations in the three test series the auto-ignition temperature rounded down with an accuracy of 5 °C was determined to be 225 °C.

 

Final results

The test item has an auto-ignition temperature of 225 °C according to Regulation EC No. 440/2008 Method A.15. Auto-Ignition Temperature (Liquids and Gases) and DIN 51794 (2003): Determination of Ignition Temperature.

Conclusions:
An auto-ignition temperature of 225 °C (at 995-998 hPa) was determined for the substance Methoxycyclododecane (CAS 2986-54-1) according to E.U. Method A.15.
