Description of key information

The dynamic viscosity was determined with a rotational viscometer.
The substance can be considered as a Newtonian fluid.
The dynamic viscosity of nopyl acetate at a shear rate of 583 s-1 is 7.7 mPa.s at 20°C and 5.0 mPa.s at 40°C.
In accordance with Directive 67/548/EEC and CLP Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008, nopyl acetate does not meet the criteria for classification as an aspiration hazard. Although this substance is a low viscosity and mobile liquid, its chemical structure indicates a low potential for surface activity. In addition, there is no evidence of aspiration toxicity for this material from either human experience or from animal toxicity data and it is not a member of a recognized category of materials having aspiration toxicity potential.

Additional information

Key study conducted according to OECD 114 Guideline.

The result is scientifically acceptable but not obtained under GLP. Therefore a reliability of 2 (reliable with restrictions) was assigned.

A supporting study with a consistent result confirms the key study value.
