other: From 229°C the test item shows a boiling and/or thermal decomposition with evaporation of the decomposition products.

The test item Butandioic acid, sulfo-, 1,4-bis(2-methylpropyl)ester, sodium salt shows a boiling and/or thermal decomposition at ca. 229 °C (at 1021 mbar) (a decomposition is most likely due to a strong residue in the crucible at ca. 600 °C (see TGA measurements)) according to the definition in the OECD guideline 103 (mean value from repeat determination; 1st heating run).

From 229 °C the test item shows a boiling and/or thermal decomposition with evaporation of the decomposition components.

The DSC measurements were confirmed by means of TGA measurements (up to 229 °C the sample shows a weight loss of ca. 3-6 weight%) under the same measuring conditions

In the non-GLP klimisch 1 key study from Kintrup (2012) the boiling point of Butandioic acid, sulfo-, 1,4-bis(2-methylpropyl)ester, sodium salt was determined with the DSC method according to OECD 103 and EU method A.2. Up to 229°C the test item did not show any boiling. At 229° and higher decomposition and probably also boiling were observed.
