Description of key information

Log Kow values were calculated to be 6.67 and 8.125 for diisopropyl-1,1'-biphenyl and tris(1-methylethyl)-1,1'-biphenyl, respectively, using the calculation program KOWWIN v1.68 included in US EPA EPI Suite 4.1. As diisopropyl-1,1'-biphenyl is the major constituent (ca. 80%) in the technical product "Alkylation and transalkylation products of biphenyl with propenel", its log Kow was adopted for the total of the reaction mass.

The technical product "Alkylation and transalkylation products of biphenyl with propene" is a mixture of isomers of diisopropyl-1,1'-biphenyl (ca. 80%) and tris(1-methylethyl)-1,1'-biphenyl (ca. 13%). Their log Kow values were estimated to be 6.67 and 8.125, respectively, using the calculation program KOWWIN v1.68 included in US EPA EPI Suite 4.11. As diisopropyl-1,1'-biphenyl is the predominant substance in the technical product, its log Kow is adopted for the total of the reaction product.
