Additional information

Based on acute toxicity data PNEC were derived for freshwater, marine water as well as for sediment of both compartments and soil (based on the equilibrium partitioning method). In addition PNEC secondary poisoning was calculated. PNEC air was not derived as no hazard could be identified.

Conclusion on classification

For 2-Acetone, condensation product with phenol valid short-term ecotoxicological studies reported of effects in the range between 1 and 10 mg/L, the substance is neither rapidly biodegradable nor hydrolytical insable, the water solubility is rather high (>= 250 mg/L), the QSAR based partition coefficient log Kow is > 4 for some constituents (maximum of 4.96) and the QSAR based BCF is > 500 for some constituents as well.

Thus, based on Regulation (EC) No 1272/2008 (CLP) 2-Acetone, condensation product with phenol has to be classified as chronic category 2 for the environment. There is no acute classification.
