Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

One study, investigating the toxicity to microorganisms of fatty acids, C16-18 even numbered and C18-unsatd. Triesters with propylidynetrimethanol (CAS 57675-44-2), is used as read across for fatty acids, C16-18 (even numbered) and C16-18unsatd. (even numbered), mono-, diesters with neopentyl glycol and di-, triesters with trimethylolpropane (CAS 85186-92-1). This read-across substance is structurally and compositionally related to fatty acids, C16-18 (even numbered) and C16-18unsatd. (even numbered), mono-, diesters with neopentyl glycol and di-, triesters with trimethylolpropane (CAS 85186-92-1). The respiration inhibition test with activated sludge (domestic) according to OECD 209 showed an increase of respiration rate about 20% at the tested concentration of 10000 mg/L (nominal) compared to the control (Kuttler, 1997). No inhibition of respiration rate was observed. Therefore, the EC10 and EC50 (3 h) were derived as > 10000 mg/L (nominal). Based on the result of the read across substance, it can be concluded that no toxicological effects on microorganisms are expected forfatty acids, C16, C18 and C18-unsatd., mixed esters with neopentyl glycol and trimethylolpropane (CAS 85186-92-1).Furthermore, the available test on biodegradation exhibited the ready biodegradability of the test substance. Thus, a disturbance in the biodegradation process of sewage treatment plant is not anticipated.
