Additional information

BPA-Tars was evaluated for genotoxic/mutagenic potential in the Ames/Salmonella mutation assay, Chinses hamester V79 cell HPRT gene-mutation test and in the same cell line for induction of chromosome aberrations following O.E.C.D. Test Guidelines with GLP compliance. All three in vitro test were conducted up to cytotoxic dose levels. BPA-Tars treatment did not induce any evidence of genotoxic/mutagenic potential in these sensitive in vitro assays.

Short description of key information:
2-Acetone polymer with phenol (BPA-Tars) was assessed for genotoxic/mutagenic potential in three in vitro assays conducted with and with a rat liver derived S9 metabolioc activation perperation.

Endpoint Conclusion: No adverse effect observed (negative)

Justification for classification or non-classification

BPA-Tars was negative for genotoxic/mutagenic potential in three in vitro test guideline assay. Therefore, no Classification and Labelling for "Mutagen" is required.
