Description of key information

Bulk calcium carbonate does not have explosive properties.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Explosiveness:
non explosive

Additional information

The structure of calcium carbonate was assessed for chemical groups that would indicate explosive properties and was found to contain no such groups.  Therefore, the explosive properties of calcium carbonate have been predicted negative based on the chemical structure and experience of handling and use.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The explosive properties of bulk calcium carbonate have been predicted negative based on chemical structure and experience of handling and use. Classification is not required.
