Results with reference substance:
Sodium benzoate (the reference substance) attained a maximum level of biodegradation (based on the BOD:ThOD ratio) of 83%.
The results obtained from the toxicity control bottles showed the test substance did not inhibit the biodegradation of sodium benzoate, as the mean oxygen consumption in the toxicity control bottles was similar to the total of the mean oxygen consumptions by the two separate components.
