Abiotic degradation

Overall, abiotic degradation occurs with HFO-1234yf, it is removed by oxidation in the air in 10 days. In water the substance is expected to be stable as the substance contains no hydrolysable functionalities.

 

Biotic degradation

HFO-1234yf was not readily biodegradable in a screening test (<5% after 28 days). Simulation studies were not performed.

Due to the absence of direct or indirect exposure to these compartments, the stability of HFO-1234yf in soil and sediment is to be considered as not relevant.
