Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Principles of method if other than guideline:
One key aspect in developing a new refrigerant is to test its compatibility with typical metals that are used in refrigeration and air conditioning equipment. Tests are typically performed by adding a given amount of the test substance into a high pressure glass vessel that contains copper, steel and aluminum coupons. The glass vessel is then sealed and thermostated at a given temperature. When the test is completed the initial analysis is determined by simply looking at the color of the fluid in the tube. It is therefore important that the initial color of the refrigerant is documented so that it can be compared to the final samples
