Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

For the assessment of aquatic toxicity information on all three trophic levels are available. Acute toxicity to fish was determined in three different studies. The most sensitive species was Oryzias latipes showing a LC50 of 19.1 mg/L after 96 h in a semi-static test system. The MOE Japan reported a EC50 (48h) of 33 mg/L to Daphnia magna using a semi-static test system according to OECD guideline 202. In a second study a EC50 (48 h) of 53 mg/L was measured using the same species. In a OECD Guideline 201 study the growth inhibitory effects of 2-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate on Scenedesmus subspicatus was determined as ErC50 = 69.7 mg/L.

No studies on long-term toxicity to fish are available. However, the hazard assessment of 2-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate reveals neither a need to classify the substanceas dangerous to the environment, nor is it a PBT or vPvB substance, nor are there any further indications that the substance may be hazardous to the environment. Therefore, and for reasons of animal welfare, a long-term toxicity study in fish is not provided. The long-term toxicity to aquatic invertebrates was assessed according to OECD Guideline 211. After 21 days of exposure a NOEC of 4.35 mg/L was measured.

For the determination of toxicity to microorganisms the results of two studies of the structural analogues 2-dimethylaminoethyl acrylate (CAS# 2439-35-2) was used. The toxicity of this substance on microorganisms was determined in two different studies using Pseudomonas putida (EC10 = 210 mg/L) and activated sludge from industrial sewage treatment plant (EC20 > 1000 mg/L), respectively.
