Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
flammable solids
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.10 (Flammability (Solids))
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)

CLASSIFICATION ACC. TO GHS/CLP (REGULATION (EC) NO. 1272/2008):

Flammable gases: NO (test item is a solid)

Flammable aerosols: NO (test item is not produced or used in aerosol form)

Flammable liquids: NO (test it is a solid)

Flammable solids: NO (test item is not readily combustible)

Self-reactive substances and mixtures: NO (test item does not contain structural alerts)

Pyrophoric liquics: NO (test item is a solid)

Pyrophoric solids: NO (test item does not contain structural alerts)

Self-heating substances and mixtures: NO (test item is not self-heating and not capable of strong exothermic reaction, practical experience from production and use do not give rise to any concern

)

Substances and mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases: NO (test item does not contain structural alerts, practical experience from production and use do not give rise to any concern)

Interpretation of results:
other: non flammable according to Regulation (EC) 1272/2008.
Conclusions:
The test item is not classified according to the criteria of CLP.
Executive summary:

The determination of the flammability of the test item was performed in accordance with the EEC Directive 92/69, Part A, Methods for the determination of physico-chemical properties, A.10 "Flammability (solids)", EEC Publication No. L383, December 1992.

The test item could not be ignited with a flame during the preliminary test (contact time of about 2 minutes). In contact with the ignition source, the test substance melted, evolving a white smoke and turned yellowish-brown.

Description of key information

Flammability: non flammable

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Flammability:
not classified

Additional information

The test item does not give rise to any concern related to flammability.

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the chemical structure and pratical experience, it can be assumed, that the substance is stable at room
temperature and does not evolve any flammable gases in contact with water or humid air. Therefore, EEC test A.12 and A.13 were not performed.
