It is assumed that substances that are readily biodegradable and are not directly applied to soil, will not enter the terrestrial environment and as such there is no need to test the toxicity to soil organisms.

Dodecane-12 -lactam is degraded by more than 60% within the 10 day-window. Waste water, containing the substance is treated in an onsite waste water treatment plant at the production site in Germany. Sludge from the

STP is incinerated so this route of exposure can be excluded . The aerial deposition is negligible.

A calculation with Mackay level I (Version 2.11) resulted in a fraction of 5.8% of the substance to end up in soil. Furthermore in a flow-through test with fish, no bioaccumulation could be observed. It can therefore be assumed that the substance will be of no relevance for long-term toxic effects.
