After the experiment, the test substance had turned into a charred residue and part of the test substance was collected in a container that was placed below the cube. It is unclear whether this was caused by melting or expanding of the test substance.

Conclusions:
In accordance with EU Method A.16 (2008) and according to GLP principles the self-ignition temperature of the substance was determined using a temperature programmed laboratory oven, a stainless steel wire mesh cube, NiCr/NiAl thermocouples and a temperature recording device. As no exothermic effect of the test substance was observed, the substance is considered not self-ignitable.

Conclusions:
A commercially available auto-ignition temperature apparatus was used for the determination of the degree of auto-ignitability of an aqueous solution of the source chemical amphoacetates C12, a member of the chemical category, according to EC, DIN and IEC guidelines and according to GLP principles. The aqueous solution is auto-ignitable with an auto-ignition temperature of 470°C at atmospheric pressures between 1005.9 and 1030.6 hPa. This result is read-across to the registered substance.

Description of key information

The substance is not self-ignitable. Based on a study conducted with a substance analogue (amphoacetates C12), aqueous solutions of the substance are auto-ignitable with an auto-ignition temperature of approximately 470°C.

The self-ignition temperature of the substance was determined in accordance with EU Method A.16 (2008) and according to GLP principles. A freeze dried aqueous solution was used in this study. Commercially available auto-ignition temperature apparatus was used for the determination of the degree of auto-ignitability of an aqueous solution of a substance analogue (amphoacetates C12), according to EC, DIN and IEC guidelines and according to GLP principles.
