Description of key information

A GLP study was performed in accordance with OECD guideline 201, in order to assess the effect of 2,2,6,6,-tetramethyl-4-oxopiperidinooxy on the growth of the green algae Scenedesmus subspicatus. Scenedesmus subspicatus was exposed to an aqueous dispersion of the test substance at 100 mg ai/l for a period of 72 hours.
No effect on the algal growth was observed from the test solutions, therefore the EC50 was defined as greater than 100 mg ai/l and the No Observed Effect Concentration (NOEC) was greater than or equal to 100 mg ai/l.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
100 mg/L

Additional information

A reliability rating of 1 was assigned to the key study, according to the criteria of Klimisch, 1997 as the study was conducted in accordance with recognised guidelines and GLP.
