Description of key information

The substance is stable, not corrosive to metals, not self-reactive and not self-heating.
Based on the chemical structure of aspartic acid, N,N'-(2-methyl-1,5-pentanediyl)bis-, 1,1',4,4'-tetraethyl ester, the substance contains no chemical groups associated with explosive and self-reactive properties (see Manual of Tests and Criteria, appendix 6, article 5.1). The subtance does not fulfill the criteria for classification according to the EC regulation No 1272/2008, Annex I.
As the test method is only applicable to solids, the substance cannot be investigated for self-heating properties as it is a liquid. Therefore,
aspartic acid, N,N'-(2-methyl-1,5-pentanediyl)bis-, 1,1',4,4'-tetraethyl ester does not fulfill the criteria for classification according to the EC regulation No 1272/2008, Annex I.
Aspartic acid, N,N'-(2-methyl-1,5-pentanediyl)bis-, 1,1',4,4'-tetraethyl esterwas tested for corrosion properties according section 37 of the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria and should not be classified based on the results of the test.

Additional information

The substance was tested for corrosive properties using the test in Part III, sub-section 37.4 of the UN Recommendations on the Transport of Dangerous Goods, Manual of Tests and Criteria. Corrosion of aluminium and steel was investigated

For the substance a corrosion rate of < 0.01 mm/year is determined and no localized corrosion was found. Thus, the corrosion rate on steel and aluminium surfaces does not exceed 6.25 mm per year at a test temperature of 55°C when tested on both materials. Based on this result the substance should not be classified as corrosive to metals.

Justification for classification or non-classification
