Structural aspects and estimated thermodynamic properties indicate that Piperonyl butoxide is not considered to have oxidizing properties.

The molecule Piperonyl butoxide does not contain any structural groups known to be correlated with a tendecy to react exothermally with combustible material. In addition, the thermodynamic calculations and the negative oxygen balance indicate that the compound may rather be assessed as combustible than to have oxidizing properties. However, the calculations must be considered as an indication only, since for one of the structural elements entropy terms was not available and therefore had to be estimated by the model. In conclusion, structural aspects and estimated thermodynamic properties indicate that Piperonyl butoxide is not considered to have oxidizing properties.
