Endpoint:
melting point/freezing point
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2009
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
other: A certificate of analysis is not included in the report, but the report itself contains adequate information on the composition of the test material used for this study.
Qualifier:
equivalent or similar to
Guideline:
EU Method A.1 (Melting / Freezing Temperature)
GLP compliance:
no
Type of method:
other: Cold storage
Key result
Melting / freezing pt.:
< -25 °C
Remarks on result:
other: No solid formation
Conclusions:
The freezing point of 1,1,3,3-tetramethylbutyl hydroperoxide is below -25°C.
Executive summary:

The freezing point of 1,1,3,3 -tetramethylbutyl hydroperoxide was measured. The test is performed to investigate whether physical changes like solidification, crystallization or phase separation occur when a product is stored at a temperature of -25°C, without stirring during 2 days and with stirring during 2 days in the presence of slivers of glass. Based on the results of this test, the freezing point of 1,1,3,3 -tetramethylbutyl hydroperoxide is <-25 °C.

Description of key information

The freezing point of Trigonox TMBH-L is less than -25 °C.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
-25 °C
