Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of Paraformaldehyde oligomeric reaction products with 4-tert-butylphenol, m-phenylenebis(methylamine), hereafter referred to as Mannich Base PTBP-MXDA, to the freshwater cladoceran, Daphnia magna, over a 48 - hour static exposure period. Mannich Base PTBP-MXDA has low aqueous solubility and therefore test solutions were prepared as water accomodated fractions (WAFs). The definitive test was conducted with 4 replicate vessels per test level with five daphnids in each exposed to the WAF prepared with nominal loading rates of 0 (laboratory dilution control), 1.9, 3.8, 7.5, 15, and 30 mg Mannich Base PTBP-MXDA/L. The acute toxicity values for Mannich Base PTBP-MXDA with Daphnia magna were determined based on nominal loading rates. The results were as follows: The 24-hour EL50 (effective loading rate) = 10.5 mg Mannich Base PTBPMXDA/

L ( 95% confidence limits not calculable); The 48-hour EL50 = 8.98 mg Mannich Base PTBP-MXDA/L ( 95% confidence

limits of 7.55 – 10.7 mg/L); The 48-hour NOELR (no-observed-effect loading rate) = 3.8 mg/ Mannich Base PTBP-MXDA/L.
