Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Remarks:
Study has been performed according to OECD and/or EU guidelines and according to GLP principles.
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
OECD Guideline 203 (Fish, Acute Toxicity Test)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method C.1 (Acute Toxicity for Fish)
Deviations:
no
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
ISO 7346-1 (Determination of the Acute Lethal Toxicity of Substances to a Freshwater Fish [Brachydanio rerio Hamilton-Buchanan (Teleostei, Cyprinidae)] - Part 1: Static Method)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Analytical monitoring:
yes
Details on sampling:
During the test duplicate samples for possible analysis were taken from the highest test concentration and the control according to the schedule below.
Frequency: at t=0 h and t=96 h
Volume: 2 ml from the approximate centre of the test vessels
Storage: Samples were stored in a freezer until analysis.
Vehicle:
no
Details on test solutions:
Preparation of test solutions started with a solution of 100 mg/l applying 15 minutes of magnetic stirring to accelerate the dissolving of the test substance in the test medium. The lower test concentration (10 mg/l) was prepared by subsequent dilution of the 100 mg/l solution in test medium. The final test solutions were all clear and colourless.
Test organisms (species):
Cyprinus carpio
Details on test organisms:
TEST ORGANISM
- Common name: carp
- Strain: Cyprinus carpio

- Age at study initiation (mean and range, SD): not indicated
- Length at study initiation (length definition, mean, range and SD): 2.9 ± 0.2 cm
- Weight at study initiation (mean and range, SD): 0.75 ± 0.16 g
- Method of breeding: F1 from a single parent-pair bred in UV-treated water.
- Feeding during test: no feeding

ACCLIMATION
- Acclimation period: At least 12 days after delivery.
- Type and amount of food: pelleted fish food (Nutra 3.0 T, TROUW NUTRITION, Putten, The Netherlands)
- Feeding frequency: daily
- Health during acclimation (any mortality observed): mortality during the seven days prior to the start of the test was less than 5%.

7.4 - 7.8

Dissolved oxygen:
6.2 - 8.9 mg/l

Salinity:
Not applicable.
Nominal and measured concentrations:
Analysis of the samples taken from nominal 100 mg/l during the test period showed that the actual test concentration was stable and in agreement with nominal (97-98%).
