Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

NOEC (56 d): ≥ 1000 mg/kg soil dw based on reproduction of Eisenia fetida (OECD 222)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

One experimental study is available investigating the effects of 1,2-Benzenedicarboxylic acid, di-C16-18-alkyl esters (CAS 90193-76-3) on mortality, behavior, body weight and reproduction of Eisenia fetida (Ganßmann, 2014). The study was performed according to OECD 222 (GLP) using artificial soil. Nominal concentrations of 10, 31.6, 100, 316 and 1000 mg/kg soil dw were tested. The test substance was dissolved in acetone to prepare a stock solution. Appropriate amounts from this stock solution were used to prepare the test concentrations by mixing with artificial soil. The solvent was evaporated completely before introducing the test species in order to avoid solvent-based effects.
After 28 d no mortality, no abnormal behavior and no influence on body weight were recorded resulting in a NOEC (28 d) of ≥ 1000 mg/kg soil dw. After an additional 28 d the influence of the test substance on reproductive output of parent animals was recorded. No effects on the number of juveniles were found resulting in a NOEC (56 d) ≥ 1000 mg/kg soil dw and a LOEC (56 d) > 1000 mg/kg soil dw.
