Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

In the chemical safety assessment performed according to Article 14(3) in connection with Annex I section 3 (Environmental Hazard Assessment) of the REACH regulation no hazard was identified. Therefore according to REACH Annex I (5.0) exposure assessment is not necessary. In addition, Bis-MPA has a low potential for adsorption to sediment (log Kow is -1.1) and is readily biodegradable. For a substance considered "readily biodegradable", it can be assumed that it will be completely biodegraded within the STP process and as a consequence any transfer to the sediment compartment is not expected. Moreover, acute aquatic toxicity tests show no hazard of Bis-MPA.
