Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Effects on fertility

Additional information

No data on the reproductive toxicity of trichloro(methyl)silane are available, therefore data on methyltrimethoxysilane have been read-across. Since the read-across substance is not corrosive, it should be assumed that additional local effects, probably of a corrosive nature, and secondary systemic effects, will be observed with trichloro(methyl)silane.

Short description of key information:
No data on the reproductive toxicity of trichloro(methyl)silane are available, therefore data on methyltrimethoxysilane (MTMS) have been read-across. The basis for this read-across is that trichloro(methyl)silane and methyltrimethoxysilane are both rapidly hydrolysed to methylsilanetriol. Exposure to methyltrimethoxysilane was not associated with reproductive toxicity. The findings support a NOAEL of at least 1000 mg/kg bw/day. However, since trichloro(methyl)silane is corrosive, additional local effects can be expected for this substance.

Effects on developmental toxicity

Description of key information
No data on the developmental toxicity of trichloro(methyl)silane are available, therefore data on methyltrimethoxysilane have been read-across.

Justification for classification or non-classification

The available read-across data do not suggest that trichloro(methyl)silane should be classified for reproductive and developmental toxicity.
