Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Endpoint:
oxidising solids
Data waiving:
study scientifically not necessary / other information available
Justification for data waiving:
the study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance contains oxygen or halogen atoms which are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied

Description of key information

In accordance with column 2 of REACH Annex VII, the study does not need to be conducted if the substance is incapable of reacting exothermically with combustible materials, for example on the basis of the chemical structure (e.g. organic substances not containing oxygen or halogen atoms and these elements are not chemically bonded to nitrogen or oxygen).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Oxidising properties:
non oxidising

Additional information

Justification for classification or non-classification

According to section 2.14.4.1 of Annex I to the CLP Regulation, an organic solid does not have to be assessed for oxidising properties if the substance contains oxygen, fluorine or chlorine and these elements are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen. Therefore, the submission substance does not need to be classified as oxidising solid according to the criteria set out in the CLP Regulation.
