- Test procedure:
- burning time (test type not further specified)
- Remarks:
- or specified in description of method (migrated information)
- Burning time:
- ca. 720 s
- Remarks on result:
- substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period
- Interpretation of results:
- not classified based on GHS criteria
- Conclusions:
- The test item is non-flammable with respect to this test.
- Executive summary:
The flammability of test item was detrmined according to EEC Method A10.
The test item (determined to have a moisture content of 0.2% w/w by drying to constant weight at 105ºC) was formed into a pile 250 mm long and an attempt made to ignite one end of the pile by application of a gas burner flame.
The test material formed a yellow-brown melt, which sustained a flame that propagated along a 200 mm length of the pile in approximately 12 minutes.
The test item is non-flammable with respect to this test.
- Endpoint:
- pyrophoric solids
- Data waiving:
- study scientifically not necessary / other information available
- Justification for data waiving:
- the study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
- Endpoint:
- substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases
- Data waiving:
- study scientifically not necessary / other information available
- Justification for data waiving:
- the study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance does not contain metals or metalloids and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied

Description of key information
Flammability solids:
The flammability of test item was detrmined according to EEC Method A10.
The test material formed a yellow-brown melt, which sustained a flame that propagated along a 200 mm length of the pile in approximately 12 minutes. The test item is non-flammable with respect to this test.
Pyrophoric solids:
The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied.
Substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases:
The study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance does not contain metals or metalloids and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Flammability:
- not classified
Additional information
Justification for classification or non-classification
Flammable solids:
Substance does not ignite and propagate combustion either by burning with flame or smouldering along 200 mm of the powder train within the 2 minutes test period (sustained a flame that propagated along a 200 mm length of the pile in approximately 12 minutes).
Therefore in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 section 2.7.2.1, this substance should not be classified as flammable solids.
Pyrophoric solids:
The substance is known to be stable at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days).
Therefore, in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 section 2.10.4, the classification procedure for pyrophoric solids need not be applied.
Substances / mixtures which in contact with water emit flammable gases:
The chemical structure of the substance or mixture does not contain metals or metalloids.
Therefore in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 section 2.12.4.1(a), the classification procedure need not be applied
