Data platform availability banner - registered substances factsheets
Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with water for at least 15 minutes. Seek medical
attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash with soap and water. Seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Seek medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
Product arising from burning: Products of combustion may contain oxides of carbon and
sulfur.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Full protective clothing and a self-contained breathing
apparatus should be worn.
Accidental release measures
formation by damping down with water. Collect spill using a
suitable inert material. Transfer to labelled containers and
dispose of by incineration in accordance with local
regulations. Ventilate spill site and wash with copious
amounts of water.
Handling and storage
chemicals. Ensure adequate ventilation. Avoid ingestion,
inhalation, skin and eye contact. An air-suit, impervious
gloves and rubber boots should be worn for handling large
quantities. For small quantities gloves, safety goggles,
protective clothing and a dust mask (conforming to EN149
FFP1) should be worn.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place in sealed containers. Keep away
from acids.

Stability and reactivity
from the bisulfite salt.
Chemical reaction with water: None reported.
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: None known.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended.
Containers contaminated with the substance may be disposed
of at a controlled landfill site.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Recommended method at a suitable facility. Waste gas
treatment to remove oxides of sulfur should be fitted.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: The substance should not normally be discharged to the
aqueous environment. However no adverse effect are expected
following accidental discharge.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will not enter the public domain.
