- Source and lot/batch No.of test material: 1433803447-425 - Contact with:
- powdered cellulose
- Sample tested:
- other: 2:1 test item to cellulose
- Parameter:
- preliminary test
- Remarks on result:
- other: Discoloured to black and ignited with small, localised, orange flame when in contact with the ignition source. No propagation was observed. The flame extinguished on removal of the ignition source.
- Sample tested:
- other: Reference mixture 2:1 barium nitrate to cellulose
- Parameter:
- preliminary test
- Remarks on result:
- vigorous reaction in the preliminary test
- Remarks:
- Vigorous burning with a medium size green flame, with a burning time of 46 seconds
- Interpretation of results:
- GHS criteria not met
- Conclusions:
- The test item was found to have no oxidising properties.
- Executive summary:
Younis (2018) is a GLP compliant study following EU method A.17 (Oxidising properties (Solids)) and is considered to be reliable without restrictions (Klimisch 1). As the reaction for the test item / cellulose mixture was significantly slower than the reference mixture it was clear that the sample is not an oxidising solid.

Description of key information
The test item was found to have no oxidising properties.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Oxidising properties:
- non oxidising
Additional information
Younis (2018) is a GLP compliant study following EU method A.17 (Oxidising properties (Solids)) and is considered to be reliable without restrictions (Klimisch 1). As the reaction for the test item / cellulose mixture was significantly slower than the reference mixture it was clear that the sample is not an oxidising solid.
Justification for classification or non-classification
Based on the results of a GLP compliant, guideline study the test item is not an oxidising solid.
