Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Fatty acids, tall oil, esters with dipentaerythritol (CAS 70913-98-3) is considered as not readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria, based on the available experimental data of the structurally related read-across substance Fatty acids, C16-18 and C18-unsatd., hexaesters with dipentaerythritol (CAS 68604-38-6). The read-across was conducted in accordance to Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5. The read-across substance is characterized by the same alcohol component (dipentaerythritol) hexa-esterified with a similar fatty acid profile (C16, C18, C18 unsatd.). The biodegradability of the read-across substance was tested in a GLP guideline study conducted according to OECD 301 B (Caduff, 2012). After a test period of 28 days relevant biodegradation of the substance was not observed under the test conditions and the substance is therefore considered as not readily biodegradable according to OECD criteria.

Based on the result from a structurally related read-across substance (in accordance to Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 Annex XI, 1.5), a degradation of Fatty acids, tall oil, esters with dipentaerythritol (CAS 70913-98-3) by microorganisms in aquatic and terrestrial environments is not anticipated. In conclusion, according to the Regulation (EC) No. 1907/2006, column 2, 9.2.1.2 - 9.2.1.4, additional simulation tests on biodegradation in water and sediment or soil were not performed since deviating results are not expected.
