Additional information

Tetraphosphorus trisulphide is a yellow-green powder at 101325 Pa and at 20 °C.

The melting point and the boiling point of the substance are respectively  174 ° C and 409 °C at atmospheric pressure.

The experimental relative density of  P4S3 is 2.026.

The particle size of the substance is d50 = 83.0 μm.

The estimated vapour pressure for the substance is 1.3*10^-7 Pa at T= 25 °C .

Due to inorganic nature of the substance, some physico-chemical properties , such as the partition coefficient and flash point properties, are waived.

Tetraphosphorus trisulphide is slightly soluble in water (29.3 mg/l at T= 20 °C and pH= 3.6)

Surface activity is not expected property for this substance.

The self-ignition temperature is 84 °C and the substance is a flammable solid (H228, cat.1 according to the CLP Regulation (EC n.1272/2008)).

P4S3 is non explosive and it is non oxidising considering its chemicals structure (it contains no explosive groups and no oxygen or halogen atom). Moreover, the oxidising potential of the substance can be exclude considering it is a highly flammable solid.

Tetraphosphorus trisulphide does not release flammable gases in contact with water, even though it is classified H260 according to the annex VI of the CLP Regulation (EC n.1272/2008).
