Guideline:
OECD Guideline 201 (Freshwater Alga and Cyanobacteria, Growth Inhibition Test)
Deviations:
no
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Specific details on test material used for the study:
Lithium perchlorate
Purity: 98.7 % approx.
Batch No.: BCBN2047V
Analytical monitoring:
yes
Details on sampling:
Analysis of the test media samples was conducted on fresh media at 0 hours and on corresponding old media at 72 hours. Measured test concentrations were determined from samples of test solution from each treatment and control group.
Vehicle:
no
Details on test solutions:
Test vessels (250 mL conical flasks) were prepared containing 100 mL of the appropriate test or control medium. The test concentration was prepared by 10 minutes stirring. Each test vessel was inoculated with 1 × 104 algae cells/mL and incubated at 23.3 – 24.6°C under a mean light intensity of 5401 Lux for 72 hours. Algae cell counts were conducted at 24-hour intervals. All test concentrations were visually clear at the start of the test. No precipitation of test substance was observed during the test.
Test organisms (species):
Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (previous names: Raphidocelis subcapitata, Selenastrum capricornutum)
Details on test organisms:
The test organism, Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata (Strain 278/4), was originally obtained from the Culture Collection of Algae and Protozoa (CCAP)
